While I have truly enjoyed every single Nicole Thomas INC Friday Feature that I have done, this one right here moved something in the inside of me and caused a shift in my outlook. The road in how we choose to enter the healthcare profession is different for every last one of us. Some of us have families that support us every single step of the way, emotionally, mentally and financially, and then their are some of us who have to navigate the waters of entering the healthcare industry with little to no support.
This week's Nicole Thomas INC Feature Friday, Brianna Bradley, BSN RN, entered into the field with pretty much no support. After tragically losing her father and having little to no support from her other family members, she set out on her quest to fulfill her life long dream of becoming a nurse. However after entering into higher education to do just that, she was not successful due to the many trials, tribulations, and hardships that she faced, causing her to flunk out of nursing school and change her major to psychology. After receiving her degree in psychology, Brianna quickly entered into the workforce in the behavioral health aspect to provide a living for herself. But it wasn't long before she made a BOLD declaration and stated " I am going to get what I know God has for me and I will finish nursing school". So, that is just what she did! However, upon her return to finish what she had previously started she continued to face many challenges which almost caused her to face homeless, but she did not quit. She kept the faith, stood strong, & planted into the word of God to pursue what she knew God had for her. After many set-backs, which was just a set-up for her comeback, Brianna completed nursing school at Hampton University.
Upon completion, Brianna knew that all that she had gone through was about her, but not for her leading to her having an epiphany that she was " More Than A Nurse". She realized that she was a survivor, resilient, the child of the king, and she was in health on purpose. This left her compelled to share her story with others including her fellow nurses, to let them know we are more that just nurses.
Brianna is the creator and founder of " Not Just A Nurse" where she highlights other nurses who are going beyond their title as a nurse and changing the world through their gift, talents and most of all their purpose.
I am telling you that this woman is a TRUE inspiration to nurses who know that their calling is bigger than their credentials. Learn more about her at www. notjustnurses.com
